Sussex Co. road to close next month for railroad maintenance

ELLENDALE, Del. – Motorists who travel through Ellendale may have to find an alternate route for part of the month of May.

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announced on Monday that Delmarva Central Railroad is scheduled to replace, repave, and perform general maintenance on their railroad crossing on Spicer Road, between Route 16 and Saw Mill Road.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 5 a.m. on Monday, May 13th, and continue through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, May 23rd, weather dependent.

Northbound traffic will detour from Spicer Road onto Saw Mill Road to Orchard Road to Route 16, then returning to Spicer Road.

Southbound traffic will detour from Spicer Road to Route 16 onto Orchard Road to Saw Mill Road, returning to Spicer Road.
