Summer Youth Employment Program accepting applications for 2019
SALISBURY, Md. – Applications for the city’s summer youth employment program are now being accepted for the 2019 season.
The city teamed up with Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore, the Wicomico Board of Education and the Greater Salisbury Committee have presented the program for four years now.
We’re told its been such a success because it teaches students real-world lessons while also earning an income.
In fact, some students have even been employed by the city as a result including one who works within police communications as a dispatcher and another who works for the zoo.
City Administrator Julia Glanz said, “It’s tremendous. We’re really proud of it. I hope that we can hire more students to be full time employees. We are preparing them for the real world because it can be scary that transition from high school to a job.”
This season ten positions are available and applications will be accepted through May 3rd.
