Salisbury Regional Airport to get new runway expansion
SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Regional Airport is getting ready for some major changes.
According to the Airport Manager Dawn Veatch, new changes include a runway extension for airplanes at American Airlines. Veatch said groundbreaking for the project will start in the year 2021.
On top of that the airport manager said there will be FEMA Disaster Preparedness at the airport to help protect people from across Delmarva from natural disasters like hurricanes.
Veatch said there will also be a new Drone Center of Innovation, which will break ground this year.
“We have a five year plan when I came here two years ago that had three major projects plus a runway extension, so the biggest thing and the biggest news is the runway extension that will help facilitate our air transportation here with American Airlines,” said Veatch.
The manager said the airport will soon have a new restaurant. Veatch said these projects are expected to bring over 400 jobs to the region.
