Royals hand Delmar their first loss of the season

DELMAR, De.- Behind three runs in the second and third innings, the Delmarva Christian Royals handed Delmar their first loss of the year 4-1. The Royals move to 4-1 this season.

After a runless first inning for both teams, the Royals would get on the board off of a moon shot over the fence to the parking lot from Riley Culver. In the third Delmarva Christian would extend their lead a little. Joseph Jones coming up to bat with two on and he sent a grounder up the middle to plate Mike Briggs and Brayden Stonebraker.

In the bottom of the third, the Wildcats would finally get on the board. Gavin Roystuart sent a dribbler into right field scoring Ryan Nelson from second to cut the Royals lead to two. Their two run lead would stand into the bottom of the seventh giving Delmar one last chance to force extras. Delmarva Christian would force three quick outs to hold on for their fourth win of the year.

The Royals will look to make it two wins in a row when they host Sussex Academy this Saturday at 10:30 am. Delmar will try and get back in the win column when they travel to Woodbridge to take on the Blue Raiders next Wednesday at 4:15.
