Two dead, five others injured in 3 vehicle crash on Route 50

SALISBURY, Md.–Two people are dead and five others are injured after a three-vehicle crash along Route 50 late Thursday night.

Maryland State Police say it happened just after 9:00PM when 19-year old Kiana Baber was driving westbound on 50 and for unknown reasons crossed into the eastbound lane crashing into two other cars.

Baber was carrying two passengers. Police identified them as 19-year old Stans Antonio Handy Jr. and 20-year old T’Yana Renee Trader. Both were ejected from the vehicle.

Handy Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene and Trader was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where she later succumbed to her injuries Friday morning. Baber was taken to Shock Trauma and five people were also sent to PRMC. The status of those victims and extent of their injuries is still unknown.

Both sides of route 50 were shut down between Naylor Mill Road and Marquis Drive as the scene was investigated and cleared.

Right now police say that charges are pending. We will provide more details as they become available.


Route 50 was shut down shortly after 9 pm Thursday night because of a three-vehicle fatal crash that happened on the eastbound lane.

According to Maryland State Police, one passenger died in the crash, one was sent to shock trauma and five others were sent to PRMC.

As of midnight, both lanes were closed between Naylor Mill Rd. and Marquis Dr.
