MSP arrest three on drug, firearms charges
SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland State Police arrested three people early Thursday morning on various drug and firearms charges after responding to a residential alarm in the 1100 block of Snow Hill Road in Salisbury.
We’re told that officers from the Salisbury City Police Department assisted Maryland State Police in responding to the incident, which happened shortly after midnight. On arrival, contact was made with 29-year-old Mary Katherine Megargee, who told police that she was living at the home and was not aware that it had an alarm. Contact was also made with two male individuals inside the home, identified as 36-year-old Kevin Ray Cropper and 34-year-old Descellaus Daymar Hardy.
Megargee then told police that her uncle had passed away two weeks prior and that she had been staying there because she was homeless. Police learned through further investigation that she was allowed to stay there, however the two male subjects were not allowed to be in the home.
While talking with the subjects, troopers saw two crack pipes in plain view on the kitchen table, leading to a full search of the occupants. Three other crack pipes were found, along with a handgun inside Megargee’s handbag. Hardy was also found in possession of two boxes of .22 cal. ammo.
All three were arrested and taken to the Salisbury Barrack for processing, during which it was learned that Hardy initially provided a false name to police. He and Megargee were also prohibited from possessing firearms and/or ammo.
Megargee was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled dangerous substance not marijuana. Hardy was charged with illegal possession of ammo, possession of a controlled dangerous substance not marijuana, and providing false statement to police officer. Cropper was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance not marijuana.
All three were taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center.
