Milford baseball stays undefeated in extra-inning win over Cape Henlopen

MILFORD, Del.- In one of the more unusual endings in baseball, the Milford Buccaneers walked off in extra innings against the Cape Henlopen Vikings via a hit by pitch.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 8th inning, freshman Aydin Zimmerman took a ball to the left bicep, forcing the runner from third home, registering the 6-5 win.

Zimmerman would get Milford on the board first in the bottom of the 3rd with a 2 RBI single, followed by a Thomas Leighty sacrifice fly in the same inning for a 3-0 lead.

The Bucs would hold that lead until the top of the 5th, when both Ryan Gibbons and Lucas Johnson roped 2 RBI singles of their own. After a passed ball that resulted in a run, Cape was back on top 5-3.

In the bottom of the 6th, Milford would crawl back, tying it at 5-5 on a passed ball which scored Jaxson Turner.

With the win, the Bucs move to 4-0. and with the loss, the defending Delaware State champs fall to 2-2.
