Local congressional leaders describe Wallops Flight Facility future as “bright”
WALLOPS ISLAND, Va. – Senator Mark Warner and Representative Elaine Luria toured the NASA facility at Wallops Island Wednesday before their scheduled town hall in Melfa.
The two congressional leaders got to check out the newly constructed MARS pad where the Antares Rocket successfully launched on its way to the International Space Station last week.
They also toured the newly-constructed MARS payload processing facility that provides the capability to process and load classified cargo aboard rockets for launch from Wallops Island.
“Both from the NASA standpoint, from the Commonwealth of Virginia standpoint, in terms of the state investments there, and future business, the future of Wallops is gonna be very, very bright,” said Warner.
The next launch from Wallops Island is scheduled for this fall.
