Local apiary launches ‘Sponsor a Hive’ program

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. –  If you’ve ever dreamed of having your own beehive but you’ve been intimidated by the price point and upkeep, today is your lucky day.

The Victory Garden Apiary in Princess Anne is launching a new program called ‘Sponsor a Hive’ where you can pay a nominal fee to have a hive placed on your property.

All maintenance on the hive will be performed by Victory Garden and at the end of the season, the hives will return to Victory Garden Apiary and you will get to walk away with a decent amount of local honey as well as some new knowledge.

Jim Leether with Victory Garden Apiary said, “You get to have a little bit of an educational benefit you learn something about the bees while you have them on the property. You’ll get honey that is directly from your yard. They call it hyper local honey and basically, if you’re having problems with your allergies, you’re getting the things that are right there in your front yard so.”

If you’re interested in becoming a sponsor, you’re encouraged to reach out to Victory Garden Apiary on Facebook or visit their website beesarefun.com.

Only a select number of people will be chosen to participate in the program.
