La Esperanza expands free immigration clinics outside of Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Del. – La Esperanza is taking their immigration services on the road…in an effort to reach more people.

“We’ve noticed that some of our clients are unable to make it to our office in Georgetown. We also realized there are a lot of pockets of, especially Latino people around Sussex County, that may not know about La Esperanza and the services that we offer,” explains Bryant Garcia, an Immigration Specialist and Immigration Program Coordinator with La Esperanza.

That’s why they’re starting a series of off-site monthly immigration clinics that will be held in the immigrant communities that aren’t in Georgetown by partnering with local churches and community centers.

“We’re starting out in Seaford and we’re hoping to continue there in Seaford because we know that Seaford has a big immigrant and Latino population. We hope to get into Laurel, we hope to get into Milford and into areas like Frankford and Selbyville and Dagsboro.”

Added resources for those who may not know how the immigration process works because it can be very time consuming, stressful and difficult.

Immigration Attorney Steven Planzer, who does free legal consultations for La Esperanza says, “Every case is very different every case is nuanced it’s important that you have the proper immigration advice to be able to be guided to a result.”

It’s a helping hand that is needed now more than ever.

“We want to be able to make sure that people are making informed decisions especially in a time where immigration is such a hot button issue and there are a lot of rumors and a lot of misconceptions and so we want to make sure that the people who really have a need for that are getting proper information,” says Garcia.
