Home in West Dover condemned following Monday’s storm
DOVER, Del. – Monday morning’s severe weather devastated the town of Laurel but further north, it also caused some damages in the City of Dover.
One home on Merion Road in West Dover had to be condemned after strong winds caused a tree to crash into the home.
We’re told the tree fell into a bedroom, causing the ceiling to partially collapse.
Luckily, no one was injured in the accident but now the family is left without a home.
They say they have plans to rebuild but the whole experience has been hard on their emotions.
Maria Borris, the homeowner said, “My son, he willingly admits that he is shook up about the whole thing and rightfully so. He was sleeping when this all happened. I have my moments. One day I’m okay, a minute later and I’m crying.”
The homeowner tells us they have been getting a lot of help and support from family, friends, and the Capital School District.
They say insurance has been working with them but it will most likely be a slow process.
