Georgetown man arrested for assault
LEWES, Del – Delaware State Police say they arrested a Georgetown man after he reportedly assaulted a 19-year-old early Thursday morning.
Troopers were called to Beebe Hospital shortly before 1 a.m. for an assault complaint that happened in Lewes. On arrival, troopers met with a 19-year-old victim who reported that they had become engaged in an altercation with his girlfriend’s brother, identified as 20-year-old Kevin Shorter.
It was then learned that that the victim and his girlfriend were driving down John J. Williams Highway when they saw Shorter walking along the road. The victim allegedly got out of the vehicle and confronted Shorter about an earlier dispute that they had gotten into, leading Shorter to threaten the victim and throw a large rock at him.
The victim was taken to Beebe Hospital and later transferred to Christiana Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Police say Shorter turned himself in and was charged with first degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and terroristic threatening. He was later released after posting $21,000 secured bond.
