Felton man arrested on drug, traffic charges
MILLSBORO, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Felton man early Monday morning after he failed to stop and was found in possession of drugs.
Shortly before 12:30 a.m., a trooper observed a GMC Yukon driving above the posted speed limit on John J. Williams Highway, in the area of Maryland Camp Road. The trooper then tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not comply and began throwing objects out of the window.
The driver, identified as 38-year-old Michael Dennis, eventually stopped in the Mountaire parking lot. On contact, the odor of alcohol was detected coming from the vehicle, resulting in a DUI investigation.
Dennis was found to be under the influence of alcohol, as well as in possession of 2.62 grams of cocaine which were thrown out of the window of the vehicle. He also had more than $3,500 in suspected drug money.
Dennis was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, disregarding a police officer signal, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance, driving a vehicle under the influence, driving while suspended, speeding in excess of posted limits, and several other traffic related offenses. He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $4,353 secured bond.
