Federalsburg man arrested on felony assault charges

SEAFORD, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Federalsburg man Saturday night after responding to a report of a physical assault.

At around 9 p.m., troopers were called to respond to Cinnamons Bar in Seaford for a reported physical assault. On arrival, a female victim with apparent facial injuries told police that her boyfriend, identified 37-year-old Christopher Henry, physically assaulted her while she was a passenger in her vehicle that Henry was driving. When they arrived at the bar, the victim tried to flee on foot, but Henry caught up to her and reportedly began physically assaulting and strangling her. She also told police he threw her cell phone to prevent her from calling the police.

The victim, a 37-year-old female, was able to get away and enter the bar where she asked for assistance. She was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers located Henry a short time later in a graveyard off of SR 20. He was subsequently arrested and charged with second degree assault, strangulation, malicious interference with emergency communications, and offensive touching. He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $21,500 secured bond.
