DSP identify two suspects in connection to multiple area chicken farm burglaries
KENT CO., Del. – Delaware State Police say they have arrested one suspect with another awaiting extradition in connection to multiple chicken farm burglaries in Kent County.
According to DSP, the investigation into numerous chicken farm burglaries began in February and continued through April, in which unknown suspect(s) were gaining access to chicken farms and taking tools, hunting equipment, and firearms.
Further investigation led police to identify 33-year-old Clifton McKinney of Greenwood, DE, and 37-year-old Jarel Schaefer of Denton, MD, as two suspects involved in the numerous incidents.
Arrest warrants were obtained for both men, on numerous burglary and theft charges. McKinney was taken into custody at a residence in the 2400 block of Hickman Road and received a $19,500 unsecured bond following arraignment, however he is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution due to having warrants out of Maryland.
Schaefer was taken into custody in Denton with the help of the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office. Officials executed a search warrant on his camper and vehicle, resulting in the recovery of various stolen property. Officials also recovered additional stolen property from local pawn shops. Schaefer is currently being held at the Caroline County Detention Center awaiting extradition back to Delaware.
