Dixon’s big day lifts Smyrna in battle of unbeatens

SMYRNA, Del. – The Smyrna Eagles got a stellar performance from Payton Dixon to take down undefeated Dover 10-0 in five innings.

Dixon started the game by striking out five of the first six batters she faced, including striking out the side in the second inning. Smyrna got eight runs that included a pair of two-RBI triples in the second and third innings to put Smyrna up big. Dixon came up in the fifth and finished the game off with a double that tacked on two more runs to end the game.

Dixon gave up just three hits, struck out seven, while going 3-3 with a double, triple and 5 RBI for the Eagles. Smyrna moves to 7-0 this season, while Dover drops their first game of the season.
