Delmar family seeks help after heated argument in hotel
SALISBURY, Md. – “We’re really displaced, and I tried to explain that to them, and it just wasn’t coming through,” said Paula Vilone.
A Delmar family says they are trying to figure out their next steps after they were reportedly asked to leave La Quinta Inn and Suites in Salisbury when an argument turned heated.
The hotel says they feel they had no other choice, but to ask the family to leave.
“We slept in our truck that night, and we slept in a trampoline last night because we have so much water damage in the camper where there’s a lot of mold,” said Paula.
Paula says she and her husband got kicked out of La Quinta Inn and Suites after an employee mistakenly threw away all of the clothes they had inside a bag into a dumpster.
“Just going through all of this here, that was literally all the clothes we had,” said Paula.
“Just going through that situation, I was overwhelmed with emotions,” said Paula.
According to a hotel manager, Paula had gotten so upset that other guests in the hotel started to complain. On top of that the manager claims that she had also made threats to the staff.
“The only threat I made was calling corporate, so if that’s considered a threat, yes I did do that, but you know what that’s the only resolution I thought I had,” said Paula.
“I don’t think it was mom’s fault,” said Joe Vilone.
“I mean if anybody’s clothes if you threw your clothes away anybody’s clothes away, I think anybody would be really mad,” said Joe.
Paula says even though she paid for her stay that night she never received an apology from the hotel.
“The only other explanation I got out of them while we never got an apology the only thing they told me was it’s not the lady’s fault, she just can’t speak English,” said Paula.
“I said well I understand that, and I’m not faulting her for that, but it’s not my fault either,” said Paula.
La Quinta Inn and Suites gave 47ABC the following statement in response to the family’s allegations: We regret that this unfortunate incident occurred. It is our duty to provide comfort and safety for all of our guests and employees. In that regard, a decision was made that was in the best interests of our staff and guests as a whole. We have, and will continue to work with various local non-profits and charitable organizations in our efforts to serve the Salisbury community.
The Vilone family has also set up a fundraiser on Facebook asking the community for help. They lost their home in a fire back on April 20.
