Del. Governor signs bill raising the state’s minimum age to buy tobacco products

 

DOVER, Del. – Governor John Carney signed legislation to raise the state’s age to buy tobacco Wednesday morning.

Legislators gathered together in support of the bill that’s raising the legal age to purchase tobacco products from 18 to 21. This means that only those aged 21 and over will be able to purchase tobacco products.

During the ceremony, lawmakers also highlighted the fact that the First State is ranked number five in the country for the highest cancer mortality rate, with the most common form being lung cancer.
