UPDATE: Crash in Lincoln claims the life of one Monday morning

LINCOLN, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Delaware woman Monday morning.

According to police, the accident took place at around 10:30 a.m., in the area of Johnson Road and Cedar Creek Road. A Kia Spectra reportedly failed to stay within the travel lane while driving westbound on Johnson Road, veering off the road and hitting a large tree.

The driver has been identified as 76-year-old Margaret L. Hughes of Lincoln. Hughes was taken to the Milford Bayhealth Campus Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Johnson Road was closed for approximately 1.5 hours following the crash, which remains under investigation.
