Community rallies to help family following house fire

DELMAR, Del. – A fire consumed a home in Delmar early in the morning Saturday, and now the local community is rallying behind the family.

We’re told no one was home when the fire broke out overnight, and firefighters were able to get the blaze under control within a couple of hours.

We spoke with the homeowner, who also runs a tree work business from the property, Vilone Enterprise.

He tells us neighbors from across the area, as well as some of his customers, have been coming by offering water and clothing.

“We had a lot of local neighbors and all came up and gave us water and things like that. And valued their time and all that stuff, we got a good community here in Delmar,” said homeowner Joe Vilone.

The home is located at 6748 Delmar Road. Vilone says, as of now, his plan is to live in the camper on the property while he and his family works to find a long-term solution.
