Community Foundation launches ‘Spark Campaign’ for Lower Shore education

SALISBURY, Md. – The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore unveiled a major announcement that they will provide over $200,000 for three education foundations on the Lower Shore.

On Thursday, they celebrated their 35th birthday and their present to the community is the launch of their “Spark Campaign”. They have challenged the Wicomico and Worcester County Education Foundation and Somerset County Public Schools to raise $35,000. From there, the Community Foundation will match it.

Their director, Erica Joseph tells 47 ABC, this match grant is crucial to invest in the future. “To help from everything from curriculum enhancement, to those urgent needs that kids may have when they come to school that many of us don’t think about it but really help to further their education by making sure they are safe, and healthy and warm and fed,” Joseph states.

We’re told these counties have their own personal needs and wants and they will be able to use these funds to best meet the needs of their students.

Fundraising starts Thursday and will last until October 15th.

You can donate to a specific education foundation or have their gift equally distributed between the three counties. If you’d like to donate, click here.
