Changes coming to Dover Toll Plaza
DOVER, Del. – Delaware is making it easier to get through the toll plaza in Dover.
The Delaware Department of Transportation has decided to reconfigure lanes at the Dover toll plaza on Route 1 to allow for a more streamlined flow of traffic through the EZ pass express lanes. As part of this, we’re told they’ll be replacing signage and re-striping the roadways.
The state says this should help alleviate the major backups during the busy summer months.
C.R. McLeod with DelDOT said, “Big events like Race Weekend or Firefly for example we will see long cues happen because traffic will back up in the EZ pass lanes as they go from two lanes to one lane in the current configuration. Our hope is by making these the ongoing two lanes through the toll plaza we will eliminate those back ups.”
Work will begin on the lanes on Monday, April 15th. We’re told it will likely take two to three days to complete the project.
