Boardwalkin event promises to raise much-needed funds

OCEAN CITY, Md. –  Folks in Ocean City will be watching the forecast carefully for Saturday morning’s Boardwalkin event.

This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Worcester County Humane Society. Hundreds of folks with their pets will be strolling down the Ocean City boardwalk Saturday morning, rain or shine.

The event raises upwards of $25,000. That money can go a long way toward helping with the every day operations at the humane society.

“This goes a long way toward helping a lot of animals. Considering we take in usually 200-plus kittens a year, try to get everything out we can. But when you factor in $1,900 a year per animal, overall costs, it really adds up,” said Heather Bahrami, board member and volunteer with the society.

Registration will be from 8:30 AM to 10 AM. You can check their Facebook page for updates on the weather’s impact on the event’s schedule.

They are also looking for donations, such as litter, paper towels, bleach, or anything else that can be used.
