Wico. Sheriff talks about his support for Trump’s first Veto
SALISBURY, Md. – Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis tells 47ABC why he supports the president’s national emergency declaration at the southern border.
Last Friday, Sheriff Lewis stood alongside President Donald Trump as he vetoed the House’s border resolution that would shut down his national emergency declaration.
Sheriff Mike Lewis says the veto is important to the eastern shore because there are no more “Border States” and because illegal immigration affects us all.
He tells 47ABC, “We are all in support of immigration. That’s what makes our country so great. We are a country of immigrants but it’s the illegal immigration. You can’t simply just walk into the united states and think it’s going to be okay to remain here and commit your crimes and do what a lot of what these illegal immigrants are doing.”
Sheriff Mike Lewis was joined by 9 other sheriffs from across the country for the veto signing.
