UMES hosting 7th- annual Eastern Shore Regional Spelling Bee

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is gearing up to host their seventh annual Eastern Shore Regional Spelling Bee.

On Saturday the Eastern Shore’s most superb spellers will compete head to head in an effort to earn the regional title.

We’re told the winner of the bee will win a trip to Washington, D.C. to then compete in the Scripp’s National Spelling Bee.

UMES Public Relations Director Bill Robinson said,  “We have 25 young people, grades three through eight who will be competing Saturday morning.”

We’re told the spelling bee will take place Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at the Ella Fitzgerald Center for the Performing Arts.
tomorrow’s competition is expected to go on until noon.
