U.S. Sen. Tom Carper on Mueller report summary
GEORGETOWN, Del. – U.S. Senator Tom Carper said on Monday that special counsel Robert Mueller’s report should be released in its entirety.
Because local matters 47ABC wanted to get a Delmarva politician’s reaction to the report that says President Donald Trump did not collude with Russia during his 2016 Presidential Campaign.
47ABC met up with U.S. Senator Carper on Monday and he said there should be a full disclosure of the Mueller report. The Democrat said he believes like many other politicians that the summary does not provide enough information about Mueller’s findings.
However, the U.S. Senator said he has worked closely with Mueller in the past so he trusts Mueller’s final conclusion in the investigation.
“At the end of the day, it should be released I know there will be some redactions and there should be, but the people need to know the truth,” said Carper.
“Thomas Jefferson used to say if people know the truth they won’t make a mistake, and I think this is one of those places where sunshine is the best disinfectant,” said Carper.
President Trump said on Monday that a full release of Mueller’s report would not bother him, and U.S. Senator Carper added that he will be discussing the summary of the report with his colleagues in the coming days.
