St. Michaels hosts first ever weekend ChocolateFest

ST. MICHAELS, Md. – Even though it was a rainy day on Sunday that did not stop dozens of people from enjoying St. Michaels’ first ever ChocolateFest.
This festival led by the St. Michaels Business Association brings people to local shops in the town for a delicious taste of chocolate.
According to the owner of Simpatico Italy’s Finest Bobbi Parlett, people came out to try her combinations of chocolate with wine as well as cheese.
Parlett said events like the festival help bring more people to the area in the slow and sometimes depressing winter months.
“We decided in December that winter is so bleak for businesses here that we would start a chocolate festival, which we’ve been talking about doing for a couple of years really, but we said everyone loves chocolate let’s just do it,” said Parlett.
According to Parlett, the festival was so successful this year that they hope to have even more chocolate festivals in the coming years.
