Salisbury man arrested on DUI, resisting arrest charges

SALISBURY, Md. – Deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Salisbury man late Monday night on numerous charges, including DUI, resisting arrest, and other traffic citations.

Just after 11:30 p.m., a deputy tried to stop a vehicle for a registration violation and erratic driving in the area of Nanticoke Road and Parsons Road. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 42-year-old Anthony Horton, accelerated away from the deputy, resulting in a brief pursuit.

Horton eventually crashed into a curb on West Road, which disabled his vehicle. He then tried to continue fleeing on foot, but was quickly caught.

According to officials, Horton had to be assisted with placing his hands behind his back to be handcuffed. The deputy also detected a strong odor of alcohol on Horton and initiated a DUI investigation, resulting in a breath sample of .12. It was also learned that Horton’s driving privileges had been suspended by the state of Maryland.

Horton was subsequently arrested and is currently being held in the Detention Center without bond pending a District Court bond review. Horton faces charges of DUI, resisting arrest, driving while suspended, attempt to elude police by failure to stop, attempt to elude police by fleeing on foot, displaying expired registration plate, displaying registration plate issued for another vehicle, driving an unregistered/uninsured vehicle, failure to stop for stop sign, and driving in excess of reasonable and prudent speed.
