Permanent boardwalk barriers being installed in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Summer is around the corner and that means Ocean City is already gearing up for the 2019 season. The town has started installing barriers along the boardwalk to improve safety.

The barriers will be installed on any street that has access to the boardwalk from the Inlet all the way up to 27th Street.

Barriers have already been installed at the Fourth Street location.

We’re told the impact on Ocean City’s residents and visitors will be minimal during the installation period.

Terry McGean, the Town Engineer said, “When you go by, you’ll see some street ends are closed off so you may have to go a block north or south to get into the boardwalk. Our goal as always is to be done by Memorial Day, so we’re working hard and we’re confident that we’re going to achieve that.”

We’re told work is already underway at over half of the remaining locations.
