Parents get chance at one-stop shop for childcare resources
SALISBURY, Md. – Finding the right dentist, pediatrician, or even summer camp for your child can be challenging for any parent. But one event held in the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center Saturday, looked to help parents find the any-and-all resources that they could possibly need.
The Delmarva Kids Expo features pediatricians, dentists, summer camps, and more for parents looking for resources for their children.
“It’s a great idea to have a one stop shop. Instead of going online, or using word of mouth talking to your friends, you have an opportunity to come to one place and see everything,” said John Reichenberg, a father of two in attendance.
The resources featured at the expo stretch across the eastern shore.
“There’s Wicomico resources here, I saw some Cambridge, there’s Dorchester County resources here, so really it’s kind of a culmination of all the shore activities all in one place,” said Reichenberg.
Parents like Reichenberg strolled through looking into different programs. For Reichenberg, he says he came in to find summer camps.
“I found a lot of great summer programs. Different culinary programs, STEM programs, art programs, some day camps, even some places to have parties and other adventures for the kids.”
The expo also gives organizations a chance to get some exposure with parents, to show off what they can do to help with childhood development.
“It allows them to get a taste of it too, our tabling gives them a chance to see what they might get a chance to see, it allows us to talk about what they might get to do. So it’s a great way to market our programs,” said Emily Foy, school programs and summer camp coordinator for Chincoteague Bay Field Station.
The expo is over, but for more information you can log on to the Delmarva Kids Expo Facebook page.
