New group pushes for more community involvement, funding in schools

SALISBURY, Md. –  One group that has garnered a lot of support for Imagine 2022 was at the public forum at the Youth and Civic Center Wednesday night, Push 4 Education.

This group formed just a couple of weeks ago and has gathered together almost a thousand signatures for the Imagine 2022 plan.

We talked to the founder, Eileen Johnson, who says the organization hopes to get more adults to volunteer in schools, noting that male role models play an important role in children’s development.

The main goal of this organization is to see increased investment every year in public education.

“If anyone has an hour or two every month that they can get into the school, we know that that is powerful,” said Eileen Johnson, the founding member of the group. “That’s something that we think we want to focus on next, but every year we’re going to be advocating for increased investment in education in our county, because we are so far behind.”
