Lt. Lorenzo “Rennie” Miles’ funeral and service details

SOMERSET COUNTY, Md. – Our community is mourning the loss of Lieutenant Lorenzo ‘Rennie’ Miles of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.

47 ABC has learned that the officer, who served his department for 25 years, passed away on Sunday after a lengthy battle with cancer. On March 31st, friends, family, and the community will get their chance to remember his life and remarkable service.

The funeral will take place at noon at the Ella Fitzgerald Performing Arts Center at UMES. Just before that, a viewing will be held from 10-12. Immediately after the funeral, a police escort will lead family and friends to Mt. Olive United Methodist Church.

47 ABC spoke to Somerset County’s Sheriff who says that Rennie will be missed and encourages the community to come out and remember an outstanding lieutenant. “Rennie was a great man he’s going to be missed he touched a lot of people in this county. I’m not sure what this family has requested donations but I do know that one area that they requested is for cemetery fund at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church,” Sheriff Ronnie Howard tells us.

We are also told that Rennie collected Challenge Coins and had a large collection. They are asking that everyone in the law enforcement community bring a Challenge Coin representing their agency to present it to Rennie’s wife at the service, as a way to show their support.
