Locals put their health first at annual HealthFest
SALISBURY, Md. – Hundreds of people put their health first, by attending the annual HealthFest in Wicomico County.
The event, put on by Wicomico County Public Schools and Peninsula Regional Medical Center, offers up dozens of free health screenings for people, including screenings for blood pressure, skin cancer, vision, hearing and more.
The goal of this event is to encourage folks to get that check up they may need, while at the same time, reminding them that these screenings aren’t a replacement for that annual check up with their doctor.
The event gives people a chance to find out how healthy they are, and if they need a physician, officials can point them in the direction of area doctors.
“Everybody needs to know what’s going on inside of them. There are some screenings that we’re doing here where we can get some critical numbers and make some very critical catches early. Diagnosing things that are going on in people, get that taken care of before it becomes a very serious problem for them,” said PRMC director of community relations Roger Follebout.
New to this year’s event was the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore Opioid Coalition, they featured education and resource information about addiction at the event.
