Legally blind man inspires students at North Salisbury Elementary
SALISBURY, Md. – On Friday, students at North Salisbury Elementary learned a very important message from a man and his guide dog.
BJ Blahnik visited North Salisbury to make sure kids know it’s okay to be a little different. Blahnik is legally blind and before getting his guide dog Goober he was lost and frustrated.
Goober helped reopen the world to Blahnik and in the process is teaching others valuable lessons.
“It just made me realize that it’s okay to be blind. It’s okay to have a disability because if a job needs to get done, you just figure out a way and how to get it done. It might not be the normal way, but in the end if you really want it if you work for it you can get it,” explains Blahnik.
A Lions Club started Leader Dogs for the Blind and Salisbury’s Lions Club is the reason why Blahnik had a chance to visit students on Friday in Wicomico County.
