Governor’s Task Force visits Salisbury

Salisbury, Md. – On Thursday a newly formed state task force led by Maryland’s Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford made several stops across the Eastern Shore.

The task force, which was created in response to the Tax Cuts and Jobs act of 2017, was designed to tackle the Opportunity Zones Program, a nationwide initiative designed to help distressed communities.

Among those communities are Salisbury, Princess Anne, Easton, Crisfield and Cambridge.  Thursday’s stops in those areas will likely help various state leaders identify programs, buildings, businesses and more that could take advantage of new incentives and millions of dollars in state funding.

Aside from Maryland, Delaware has opportunity zones that include Georgetown, Seaford, Laurel, Milford and Dover. In Virginia the only zone on the Eastern Shore includes Chincoteague.
