Fugitive warrant effort results in more than 40 arrests
SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland State Police recently partnered up with the Salisbury Police Department to try and reduce the amount of active fugitive warrants in Wicomico County.
The effort, entitled “Operation Hide and Seek”, was a joint plan coordinated by the Maryland State Police Gang Enforcement Unit, as well as law enforcement agencies in Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia. The goal was to locate and apprehend suspects that had open arrest warrants through the Salisbury Police Department.
“Operation Hide and Seek” was conducted on February 20th and resulted in a total of 41 arrests, 11 of which reportedly had ties to organized gangs and 13 of which had out-of-state connections.
Charges among those arrested include second degree assault, reckless endangerment, driving on a suspended license, narcotics distribution, disorderly conduct, motor vehicle theft, and gang involvement.
We’re told Maryland State Police, Virginia State Police, Delaware State Police, Maryland Division of Corrections, Federalsburg Police Department, Cambridge Police Department, Hurlock Police Department, Fruitland Police Department, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, and Accomack County Sheriff’s Office were all a part of this operation.
