Event held to raise awareness for developmental disabilities
FRUITLAND, Md. – As it turns out, Wednesday was a great night to hit the lanes and knock down some pins in the name of a good cause.
Two non-profits, Lower Shore Enterprises and United Needs and Abilities, came together to raise awareness for developmental disabilities.
A Night of Strikes, as it was framed, is an opportunity to honor individuals, staff and family members with bowling, games and giveaways.
These organizations work to show the public individuals with disabilities are a valuable part of our society.
“Sometimes folks with developmental disabilities may be that forgotten part of our community and population, but it’s good to get out with everybody else,” said Mike Dyer, executive director of United Needs and Abilities.
We’re told the United Needs and Abilities is looking to do more events like this in the future. March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, highlighting the contributions people with disabilities are making across the country.
