Eden man arrested for trying to sell guns through social media
SALISBURY, Md. – Officials say they have arrested a man after he reportedly tried to purchase, sell, and trade firearms illegally through social media.
The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Community Action Team began an investigation after receiving a tip during the week of February 22nd. A deputy went undercover, posing as a potential buyer, and set up a meeting to exchange firearms with the suspect, identified as 35-year-old William Lee Bonneville.
Bonneville was taken into custody following the exchange, and it was learned that he was prohibited from possessing firearms due to previous criminal convictions. A search and seizure warrant was executed at his residence on Backbone Road in Eden, resulting in the recovery of additional firearms, ammunition, controlled dangerous substances, and large amounts of cash.
He was subsequently arrested and faces numerous drug and gun charges.
