Dover rolls past Central behind an 11-0 run to end the game
Georgetown, De.- A big offensive showing by Dover gives the Senators a 15-2 win over Sussex Central (1-2). The win moves Dover to 2-1 on the season.
First at bat, Dover would get on the board first with an RBI double to deep center from sophomore Alec Rodriguez scoring Nathan Turner. The Golden Knight would respond in the bottom of the inning. With two outs on the board, Kyle Briggs stepped up to bat and sent his own RBI double to the fence to plate Cade Keeler to tie it up at one in the first.
In the top of the second, the Senators would extend their lead to three as Andrew Carney knocked a triple into the gap sending home Turner, Dom Velazquez, and Game Skay. Central would close the gap a little in the bottom of the inning as Keeler hit a double down the third baseline to score Javon Toppin from third.
Jump ahead to the fourth score 4-2 and the bats would come alive for the Senators. Starting with a three run homer form Alec Rodriguez. A few batters later the pitcher, Mike Carrington would get into the action with a home run of his own scoring two runs. Dover would end the game on a 11-0 run, ending the game in five innings to beat Sussex Central 15-2.
It was a big day for pitcher Mike Carrington who finished with six strike outs, a two run homer, and a two RBI single. Rodriguez finished with two hits including the home run and four RBI’s. Nathan Turner finished a perfect 4/4 at the plat and scored four runs while ANdrew Carney went 2/3 at bat with three RBI’s.
For Sussex Central, Javon Toppin and Cade Keeler led the way with two hits each. Kyle Briggs and Keeler would put up the Golden Knights only two RBI’s.
The Senators will look to continue their Henlopen dominance this Tuesday at 4:15 when they host Laurel (0-2). Central will try and get back into the win column when they take the short trip to Delmar to take on the Wildcats (3-0).
