Dover moves onto first state title game since ’10; beats Caravel in state semis
NEWARK, Del.- It takes a special team to go scoreless for nearly 10 minutes, yet still win a state semi-final game by double-digits.
Rare it happens, but in the end, the (2) Dover Senators did it, beating (3) Caravel on Thursday night 68-52.
Dover would lead 13-5 minutes into the game, but a 17-0 run over nearly 10 minutes gave Caravel a 24-23 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Eden Davis would take over. The junior all-state guard dropped a team-high 23 points along with four steals. His backcourt mate, Elijah Allen, had an off-night by his standards going 2-15 from the field, but a perfect 17-17 from the free-throw line for 21 points.
For Caravel, Kevin Keister paced the Bucs with 24 points, followed by Brandon Sengphachanh with a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds).
Dover advances to their first state title game since 2010 where they lost to Sanford.
This time around, they get Jyare Davis and the #1-seed Sanford Warriors on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 1pm.
