DelDOT finalizing plans for Rehoboth Avenue bike path

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Officials are finalizing plans for the bike path that will go down Rehoboth Avenue.

At a public meeting Friday, residents voiced concerns over sharp turns that were in the plans, which DelDOT says they are looking to address.

Overall, officials say they hope this path, which is part of a 15-mile loop that connects Rehoboth to Lewes, will help with traffic.

“It now allows bicyclists to transition easily from the bike path to the road, which was a problem before, because either people were riding on the sidewalk, or having to get off their bike to get on to the roads. So this will allow them to get to and from easily. Hopefully more people get on bikes and help reduce traffic,” said Anthony Aglio, a planning supervisor with DelDOT.

The bike path is scheduled to be completed by Memorial Day.
