Day two: Lee Braboy murder trial

SALISBURY, Md. – In Wicomico County, it’s day two of a murder trial. Lee Braboy is accused of shooting and killing 20-year-old Jaquanta Walton in the summer of 2017 outside of the Salisbury VFW.

On Tuesday, what happened in the moments after was the focus, as the state presented video evidence of a man they believe to be Braboy running from the scene.

The jury heard from a number of people who took the stand, witnesses who were allegedly in the area the night of the murder, who all say they didn’t see the defendant Lee Braboy.

But a few say they saw his car and others say they can identify him as the shooting suspect in surveillance footage.

Now the fact that Braboy is being identified in that video by acquaintances is important for the state because they believe that he is the one running away moments after the shooting.

They also believe that the outfit worn by the person in the video, a ski mask, a black t-shirt and white shoes is the same outfit they found at Braboy’s then girlfriend’s apartment just days after the murder happened.

The defense claims that the clothes could belong to anyone. An argument that was echoed by the then girlfriend, who claims that others who visited her home also carried ski masks.

There was also testimony from a woman who claims she overheard Braboy say “I did that one” in reference to the VFW murder and that the whole incident started over gang signs.

The state is expected to call more witnesses to the stand Wednesday morning before they rest their case and then the defense has a chance to call up any witnesses of their own.

Court is set to resume at 9 a.m. in courtroom two.

Braboy’s co-defendant Dionte Dutton is also set to appear before a jury trial in May for his alleged role in the murder of Jaquanta Walton.
