Day one: Lee Braboy murder trial

SALISBURY, Md. – In Wicomico County, it’s day one of a murder trial. Lee Braboy is facing first degree murder for the alleged shooting death of 20-year-old Jaquanta Walton back in June of 2017.

The jury has already heard several key testimonies from eye witnesses that help paint a picture of what happened on the night that Walton was murdered.

The state is alleging that Lee Braboy shot and killed Walton execution style on the sidewalk outside of the VFW on West Main Street in Salisbury back on June 10, 2017.

Although, the defense believes the state doesn’t have enough evidence to place Braboy at the scene of the crime or that he pulled the trigger.

The jury heard testimony from the man who was with the victim in his final moments, who held his finger on the bullet hole as they drove him to the hospital as well as testimony from the man who drove with Walton to the party at the VFW.

The jury also heard emotional testimony from the victim’s girlfriend who fought back tears reminiscing on a night where she waited for Walton to come home, but he never did.

Testimonies that piece together how the night unfolded, how a night that was supposed to be fun turned into a night of violence and tragedy.

Now the state still has several witnesses set to take the stand as well as crucial surveillance video from the VFW.

Braboy’s co-defendant Dionte Dutton is also set to appear before a jury trial in May. Court is set to resume Tuesday morning in Courtroom 2 at 9 a.m.
