Community honors memory of Timothy Kennard in 10-mile River Run
SALISBURY, Md. – While many people were still sleeping Sunday morning hundreds of people in Salisbury laced up their shoes and hit the pavement for a good cause.
The 16th Annual Tim Kennard 10-mile River Run hosted by the city honors the memory of Timothy Kennard who passed away back in 2004 after a battle with renal cancer.
According to the Race Director Harlan Eagle, Kennard was an avid runner and left behind a seven-year-old son. This event has raised thousands of dollars in proceeds for children in poverty as well as furry friends at the Coalition of Caring.
“We put this race together starting 16 years ago in honor and memory of friend Tim Kennard, and he asked us, well he said we were going to put together a race and he said to make it of the highest quality,” said Eagle.
Eagle said Kennard had specifically requested the community to host this annual event creating a lasting impact.
