Chincoteague resident debuting on American Idol
CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. – American Idol just premiered March 3rd on ABC and currently we’re seeing a wide range of talent. But the most exciting audition may be this Sunday’s episode because a contestant from the Shore will be showcasing his vocal chords.
Because local matters, 47 ABC’s sat down with the Nasvhille native country singer. Dalton Elliott says, “I moved here from Nashville about 3 years ago for work and I have a son here too, named Nash.”
Since then, Dalton has showcased his talents across Delmarva. But his biggest performance yet may be American Idol. “There’s four or five different steps you have to go through until you get the celebrity judges.”
Dalton made his appearance in front of Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie in New York recently. “I never really get nervous when I’m playing music this was like I was really nervous, I think they got, they said something about my face getting so red. I think after that, it was just like surreal being in front of 3 people that I look up to since they have so much success in the music industry,” Dalton tells us.
And while Dalton and his father are excited to see the audition on tv Sunday March 17th, what’s really pulling on Dalton’s heart strings is being able to share his love of song writing to the world.
“If I can make them happy to connect with me over music that’s what it’s all about. It’s not about making money, being famous or being a big star, it’s just about making people happy,” Dalton tells 47ABC.
We can’t tell you how he did on the audition, but you can tune on Sunday at 8 PM on ABC. Dalton is also having a watch party at Steamers Restaurant and Sports Bar in Chincoteague on Sunday.
