BREAKING: Laurel man arrested in connection to homicide investigation
LAUREL, Del. – Delaware State Police have arrested a Laurel man on murder and other related charges in connection to a homicide that happened earlier this month.
The investigation began just before 7:30 a.m. on March 9th, when troopers were called to S. Shell Bridge Road in the area of Broad Creek Estates for a report of a victim that was found deceased on the side of the roadway. The death was later ruled a homicide and was the result of a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
The Delaware Division of Forensic Science identified the victim as 34-year-old Tia Tucker of Seaford. Police believe the homicide occurred sometime between March 6th and March 8th.
Further investigation led police to identify the suspect as 32-year-old Joseph Beck of Laurel. Beck was indicted on first degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by person prohibited, and abuse of corpse, on Monday.
Beck is currently being held in Virginia and is awaiting extradition back to Delaware.
