UPDATE: Body identified and recovered from Wicomico River
UPDATE: The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says the car pulled from the Wicomico River Monday morning belonged to 47-year-old Sara Stilwell of Salisbury.
It is believed that the crash took place at around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Officials say Stilwell’s car collided with a street sign and then the cable barrier at the ferry ramp before the vehicle continued down into the river. Her body was recovered from the river at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

EDEN, Md. – Police say they recovered a body from the Wicomico River Sunday afternoon.
Deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched at approximately 9:21 a.m. to the Upper Ferry Ramp on South Upper Ferry Road in Eden, Maryland on Sunday in reference to suspicious activity.
Responding deputies reportedly found that a road sign had been knocked over and the cable across the ferry ramp had been torn down.
Deputies reportedly observed vehicle tire marks leading down the ramp and into the water.
The Maryland State Police Dive Team was requested to respond and assist with the investigation.
Police say at approximately 4:00 p.m., divers located a vehicle under water at the end of the bulkhead. At 4:30 p.m., the body of a white female was recovered from inside the submerged car. Police say she was not wearing a seat belt.
The name of the deceased is being withheld until the next of kin has been notified.
