Bennett pulls past Chesapeake; advances to first regional final since ’98
SALISBURY, MD- The James M. Bennett girls basketball advanced to their first regional championship game in 21 years, defeating Chesapeake (AA) 53-34 on Thursday afternoon.
Bennett junior Zyaire Smullen finished with a game-high 30 points, including 17 in the first half that helped the Clippers push a 7 point lead into the locker rooms for halftime.
The Clippers also got 15 points from sophomore guard Mekara Hanson, including 6 in the fourth quarter.
JMB moves to the regional championship game on Saturday, when they host Long Reach out of Howard County.
