2019: A Year of Wet Weekends

If you think it’s been a wet year so far, you’re right! And if you think our weekends have been gloomy, you’re right as well! 2019 has been a wet year so far whether it’s the weekend or not, but an interesting stat shows that it’s been tough to find a completely dry weekend on Delmarva this year.

Looking back at the latest data, 80% of the weekends in 2019 have had measurable precipitation, with only two featuring dry conditions. The last completely dry weekend on Delmarva was over a month ago back on February 2nd and 3rd. However, this upcoming weekend is expected to be dry, and if that occurs, our wet weekend stretch will be broken. Stay tuned!

Overall, 2019 is off to a fast start in the precipitation department. Rain and snow this winter have brought Salisbury’s total to 8.82″. At this point in the year, we should be sitting at around 8.45″, so we’re slightly above average. With more rain in the forecast late this week, we’ll be adding more rain to our yearly total. And with the El Nino continuing, we see no break in this wet pattern for the foreseeable future.
