WiHi girls basketball sweeps season series over Bennett
SALISBURY, Md.- They say basketball is a game of runs, and that’s all it took for WiHi girls basketball to take down rival James M. Bennett on Thursday night.
Down seven points at halftime to the defending Bayside South champs on their home floor, the Tribe pieced together a 15-3 run in the third quarter, and held on for good from there, 62-59. A last second three from Mekara Hanson fell short, giving the Indians their second win against the Clippers this season.
WiHi was led by Leyanna Pettit with 17 points, and Jonysha Prucien, who made eight free throws down the stretch to seal the win. Hanson did her best to lead JMB back from behind, scoring 15 of her game-high 30 in the final eight minutes.
With the Indians win, Parkside is the 2018-19 Bayside South regular season champ.
